Home-Delivered Meals

Home-Delivered Meals- A Rose Centers for Aging Well jumper delivering a meal to a home-delivered meals participant

Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging aims to reduce food insecurity among older adults and provide meals to those who are food insecure. The U.S. Department of Agriculture defines food insecurity as a lack of consistent access to enough food for a healthy life. Currently, about 5 million older adults are facing food insecurity and hunger, a number that is on the rise every year. Experts predict that by 2020, that number could rise to about 8 million. To help address this issues, our Rose Centers for Aging Well offer home delivery service of nutritious hot and cold meals to older adults who cannot leave their homes.

If an older adult you work with lacks access to food in the home, we can help. Participants receive one meal a day Monday through Friday, delivered between 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Professionally trained home-delivered meals staff deliver meals directly to participants’ doors. Our delivery teams treat each participant with courtesy and respect, and provide a familiar and friendly face to check-in on them at home.

Our menus offer balanced meals to meet participants’ nutritional needs, including foods containing protein, dairy and starch, as well as fresh fruits and vegetables. Menus include both hot and cold entrées such as turkey or cold cut sandwiches, fruit cups and yogurt. We ask that you please let us know of your client’s dietary restrictions when scheduling meals, as some of our meals can be tailored to accommodate specific needs.

If inclement weather prevents our daily meal delivery service, the delivery team will alert participants to planned closings in advance. Additionally, closings can be confirmed by checking the local news or calling into our office.

To be eligible for home-delivered meals through our program, participants must:

  • Live in Cuyahoga County
  • Be at least 60 years of age
  • Be unable to shop for or prepare meals independently

Caregivers of older adults who receive meals through our program may also be eligible to receive meals.

During the intake process, payment options will be discussed, including approved insurance providers.

For more information, or to refer an older adult who you are working with to our home-delivered meal service, call (216) 373-1994. We are a proud member of Meals on Wheels America, which connects us to helpful services and resources.
